Hello!
My name is Sandy Carpenter and I am a freelance language professional with two decades of experience of delivering bespoke language solutions to companies and individuals. For the last ten years, I have specialized in professional translation but have a background in international customer service and language tuition that informs my client-focused, creative and flexible approach.
I am passionate about the nuances of cross-cultural communication and driven by a lust for language learning and natural curiosity that have led me on many adventures and paved the way for my professional development.
This curiosity and thirst for knowledge brought me to Italy in the 1990s, where I discovered my talent for languages, and later to university where I gained my first degree in Modern Languages in 2002. Shortly thereafter, determined to add another string to my linguistic bow, I obtained the TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certificate. This enabled me to practice the magical art of inspiring a love of languages in children and adults for several years in Italy, Spain and the UK. In this period, I also cut my commercial teeth in the world of international customer service, looking after the Italian and Spanish clients of several large manufacturing companies. It was during this experience that I became fascinated with translation, going on eventually to obtain a master’s degree in Translation in 2012 and specializing in business and legal translation. I am also a member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists.
I have been running my own freelance language services business since then and am always interested in new challenges. If you would like to know more, get in touch.
