My Journey
Translation has taken me places I never expected—both professionally and personally. What began as a fascination with languages and cultures has grown into a career helping businesses communicate clearly and confidently across borders.
My interest in languages first led me to Italy in the 1990s, where I discovered not only a love of Italian, but also a genuine fascination with how language shapes the way we think, work and connect with one another. That curiosity eventually led me to study Modern Languages at university, before qualifying as a TESOL teacher and spending several years teaching English in Italy, Spain and the UK.
Teaching gave me a deep appreciation of how people learn, communicate and misunderstand one another—skills that have proved just as valuable in translation as they were in the classroom.
Alongside teaching, I worked in international customer service for several manufacturing companies, supporting Italian- and Spanish-speaking clients. It was here that I developed an understanding of the commercial realities behind multilingual communication. I saw first-hand how much can depend on clear, accurate language, whether resolving customer issues, negotiating with suppliers or supporting international business relationships.
That experience naturally led me into professional translation. Wanting to deepen my expertise, I completed a Master’s degree in Translation in 2012, specialising in business and legal translation, and have been working as a freelance translator ever since.
Over the years I’ve translated millions of words for organisations ranging from individual entrepreneurs to multinational companies. My work has supported contracts, legal documentation, corporate communications, technical documentation, marketing materials and business content for clients including Eni, Enel, Fideuram, Gi Group, General Electric, Louis Vuitton and the University of Bologna.
My approach
Translation is never just about replacing words in one language with words in another.
Every project begins with understanding the purpose of the text, the intended audience and the client’s objectives. Only then can the right translation strategy be chosen—one that preserves meaning, reflects the appropriate tone and achieves the desired outcome.
Whether the priority is legal accuracy, technical precision or natural, engaging prose, I apply the translation strategy that best serves the purpose of the text.
Careful preparation, rigorous quality assurance and open communication are central to the way I work. I believe in identifying potential issues early, asking the right questions, and finding practical solutions before small problems become expensive ones.
For larger or more specialised assignments, I also collaborate with a trusted network of experienced language professionals, allowing me to assemble the right team while remaining your single point of contact throughout the project.
What you can expect
Working with me means benefiting from:
- A thorough analysis before work begins to identify potential issues early.
- Clear, responsive communication throughout the project.
- Translations tailored to your audience, objectives and industry.
- Consistent terminology and rigorous quality assurance using professional translation technology.
- Practical advice to help you achieve the best result in the most efficient way.
- A dependable long-term language partner, not simply a translator.
At the heart of everything I do is a simple belief: every translation should be fit for purpose. No two projects are the same, so every translation should be tailored to the client’s objectives, the target audience and the specific requirements of the text.
Why my clients choose me
Experience has taught me not only how to work efficiently, but also when to slow down. While I can often accommodate demanding deadlines, I also know when a project requires careful research, thoughtful questioning and meticulous attention to detail. The result is work delivered on time without compromising quality.
